Rufous Hummingbird Found on Staff Property!

Recently, a TNC of Kentucky staff member, Mike Hensley, found a Rufous Hummingbird on his property. Below is his story:

ImageBrainard Lemon Palmer-Ball Jr., a local bird-watching guide,  was kind enough to come by my place recently to observe and (try!) to catch a male rufous hummingbird that has been hitting our feeders along with dozens upon dozens of ruby-throated hummingbirds.

Success!  Within a fairly short period of time, the little guy was safely captured and Brainard then began the process of taking some measurements and putting on a tiny leg band.  The whole process went very smoothly and quickly and the rufous was quickly back on his way!
